Indigenous Wisdom

Almost across the board, the Indigenous cultures of the world have recognized relationship, and relational understanding, as being integral to a successful life journey. Within a relationship to all things, a relationship to the land, a relationship to creation, a relationship to stewardship, you will find all the teachings lead to emotional intelligence. The humility to accept guidance from the messages that the universe constantly sends; the honouring of the gift that these messages bring to our circle; the courage to release control and lean forward into the breeze of oncoming incidents; and the celebration of every step on our journey of becoming. Within the storytelling teaching engaged by Indigenous cultures, from recognition to adulthood, emotional intelligence must be portrayed. These walking, talking, and teaching moments require ongoing proximity, which requires successful relationality, resulting in knowledgeable and passionate correspondence. In recognising a wholistic approach to development, spirituality was seen as equally important as cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. Successfully cultivating a relationship to the things that speak to our heart, speaks directly to a relationship to all things. - Duane Jackson
